Feyenoord are refusing to give up on Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Hugo Bueno and are locked in talks with the Premier League side over a move for him.

That’s according to journalist Martijn Krabbendam of Voetbal International, via Voetbal 4 U, who reports that Feyenoord are determined to get the 22-year-old back if they can.

Bueno spent last season on loan with the Dutch side and made a positive impression, particularly when they were in the Champions League.

Feyenoord would like to sign him on loan again, or permanently, but the feeling has been that won’t be possible as Wolves may see him as a replacement for Rayan Ait-Nouri after his move to Manchester City.

Reports from the Netherlands have bounced between two extremes, with it either claimed that Feyenoord have zero chance of convincing Wolves to insistence that they haven’t given up yet and will continue to talk to Vitor Pereira’s side.

As far as Krabbendam is concerned it is the latter, with him now reporting that talks are underway and Feyenoord see the Wolves man as the ideal replacement for Quilindschy Hartman.

“In addition, the talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers about Hugo Bueno are ongoing,” he said.

“He started last season as the temporary replacement for Quilindschy Hartman, who signed his four-year contract with Burnley on Wednesday.

“Feyenoord is so pleased with the Spaniard that the stand-in should become the definitive successor.”
