Flamengo’s negotiations with West Bromwich Albion for Mikey Johnston are well underway and there are just a few details remaining for the deal to take place.

That’s according to journalist Bruno Lemos, who picks up on reports today about the 26-year-old’s potential move to Brazil.

Reports in England and then Brazil today explained that Flamengo were in talks with West Brom over a surprise move for Johnston.

It was then explained that the interest was being pushed by Flamengo technical director José Boto, who has been watching the West Brom winger since he was on loan at Vitória de Guimarães in Portugal.

Lemos now adds his information to that, explaining that negotiations between West Brom and Flamengo are well underway. In fact, there are just a few details remaining before his move to the Brazilian side can be completed.

He provides no mention of an asking price at this point, or even contract terms, just that negotiations are seemingly progressing very quickly.

West Brom will presumably want to recoup the €3.5m they paid Celtic to sign the winger last summer from Celtic.
