Everton have come forward to sign Flamengo’s Wesley França, according to claims from Italy.
The right-back has been linked to several clubs and Flamengo were clear he’ll only be sold after the Club World Cup. They’ve been knocked out of the tournament and Wesley played just two games.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now reports Everton would like to buy the 21-year-old this summer.
The Premier League club are owned by The Friedkin Group, who also own AS Roma. New Giallorossi manager Gian Piero Gasperini has asked to sign the Brazil international, and contact has been initiated.
Di Marzio claims the Merseyside club would buy him and then send him on loan to Roma. Flamengo, for their part, are asking for €30m to sanction Wesley’s sale this summer.
Calciomercato.it states Roma can’t match the South American club’s €30m asking price. Therefore, David Moyes’ side are working on the deal for the defender to help the Italian club.
It’s claimed Everton have contacted Flamengo to express their interest in the player. The report states they could get closer to the Brazilian club’s request to sign him and then send him on loan to Roma.
Calciomercato.it states: ‘A situation still in progress, obviously, but which could take off definitively in the coming days.’
Brazilian journalist Venê Casagrande took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide his take, after relaying claims from Italy.
He points out Everton suggested they would offer €18m for Wesley but haven’t tabled a written offer so far. Casagrande claims Flamengo ‘soon warned’ the Toffees that they won’t sell him for less than €30m.
In other words, Everton have been told to raise their offer by €12m.
