Palmeiras are willing to spend over €11m on Nottingham Forest forward Ramón Sosa this summer, because he ticks a number of boxes for them.
That’s according to GE Globo, who explain why the Brazilian side are willing to pay for the Nottingham Forest man in this window.
They explain that Palmeiras are in negotiation with Nottingham Forest for the Paraguayan in a deal that would be a little over €11m. They are in contact with both Forest and the player’s entourage. This has also been reported in the UK.
Sosa is the main target at this moment in time and there is hope he can be signed once the window opens in July, after the Club World Cup.
Palmeiras like him because Abel Ferreira wants a ‘speedster’, specifically a right-footed one who plays on the left-wing. Sosa offers different characteristics to what is currently available in the squad. The expectation is that a deal will be done once the Club World Cup is over.
Sosa is a long-term target despite only joining Nottingham Forest last August. Palmeiras tried to sign him earlier this year and Forest were willing to do a deal. Sosa, though, signalled that he would like to remain in the Premier League.
That has now changed, and Palmeiras have received information in the last few days that Sosa is open to negotiating a move to Brazilian football. That has led them to intensify contacts to get the deal done.
