Real Betis are not concerned about Aston Villa’s interest in Jesús Rodríguez and won’t consider any bid until later in the summer.
That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who report that despite reports of Aston Villa’s interest, the Spanish club ‘remains calm’.
The newspaper explains that at this moment in time, Betis would only accept an ‘off-market offer’ for the 19-year-old winger.
They would need terms close to his €35m clause, which could rise to €50m in future, before they would consider selling the youngster.
The club are firmly putting their confidence in the winger, believing he is set for a bright future despite a drop in performance in the final weeks of the season and a poor showing the Conference League final.
Rodríguez is with Spain’s U21s at the European Championship this summer and Betis believe that is an ideal situation. Good performances at that tournament can see his value rise.
Thus, they are reluctant to listen to interest from the likes of Aston Villa, or anyone else, if it isn’t around that €35m release clause. They’d prefer to wait, see how he develops at the tournament and see what happens from there.
