There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Burnley have been offered the chance to sign Besiktas forward Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Besiktas are again looking to offload the former Arsenal and Liverpool player after failing to sell him last summer.
Sporx report on Burnley’s links with Oxlade-Chamberlain as Besiktas look to part ways with the 31-year-old. The Black Eagles need to reduce the number of foreign players in their squad and the Englishman isn’t part of their long-term plans.
It’s claimed the Premier League side would be interested in signing the attacking midfielder, but are only prepared to take him on a free transfer.
According to the Turkish media outlet, Burnley are ready to offer him a 1+1 contract and a salary of €1.5m a season. Oxlade-Chamberlain currently earns €3m a year, which is an issue for the Istanbul club.
The final decision will come down to the ex-England international and whether he’s prepared to take a drop in wages by heading to Turf Moor.
Oxlade-Chamberlain made 20 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring one goal. He’s contracted to Besiktas until June 2026.
